Our Story
Rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted after its 2019 inspection, the school’s mission statement is ‘Together Aspire, Together Achieve’.
"As the Headteacher at Stonebroom Primary and Nursery School, my motivation to become so was in part due to the fantastic community spirit, amazing children and team that is Stonebroom, but also to be a part of The Christopher Nieper Education Trust.
CNET is a local Trust that provides high quality, personalised provision for all learners. I was drawn to its ethos and values, but also what this could mean for a small school with big ambition for the future. Working within a Trust that has both primary and secondary partnerships enables effective transition and education from 3-18 years. After working in the education system for over thirty years, this is one of the biggest challenges that schools face when independent and separate, but, as part of the same team, the potential for seamless transition becomes an exciting possibility.
To be involved with a local employer and successful business willing to invest in future generations is a strength that benefits our pupils and the community. David Nieper Clothing is a British company that prides itself on quality merchandise and excellent customer service, these values form part of the Trusts vision, promoting an employability-focused curriculum, fusing academic and vocational teaching to make it an exceptional place to learn.
Stonebroom, Shirland, David Nieper Academy and other schools who choose to join, are in a unique position to help build and shape the Trust as the partnerships develop and the Trust grows.
Stonebroom School runs its day-to-day business in much the same way. We continue to lead and develop standards, safeguarding, SEND and stakeholders – this direction is specific to individual schools within the trust. We develop our curriculum so that it meets the needs of the pupils at Stonebroom but have the opportunity to collaborate with our wider schools on shared projects, sharing best practice and making the most of school-to-school support. The benefit of being part of a Trust, is that there is always a ‘friend to call,’ Trust expertise in finance, HR, school improvement, leadership and management and family support, which means that we can do more and respond quickly, which is not always the case when you are part of a large authority.
Partnerships between our schools are strong. David Nieper Academy offers key calendar events to our pupils to aid transition and develop technical skills and curriculum enrichment for all pupils. Trust development ensures that the Y6-Y7 transition package is of high quality and impactful. Stonebroom and Shirland have a close working partnership of support and sharing good practice. As single form entry schools, staff can sometimes feel isolated, but working within the Trust allows collaboration and a wider team to work with.
Our Trust is still young and developing, this is an exciting stage to be part of, as we shape and build a sustainable partnership that develops leaders and achievers of the future!" - Angela Sweeney, Headteacher, Stonebroom
