Meet some of our team
Reiss joined the David Nieper Academy as an apprentice in 2017 and, after an 18 month training course, was appointed as a Teaching Assistant.
Reiss now has additional responsibility for the Key Stage 3 Nurture Group and is involved in the annual review process for education and health care plans. He also supports the Assistant SENCo in all aspects of the role and enjoys being able to learn about the many different elements that make up Special Educational Needs support.
Reiss most enjoys working at the academy with the children. “They have a lot of character which can lead to some lovely and surprising moments,” he says. “I love it!” He believes these moments are facilitated by the caring and hardworking adults who support the children.
Reiss says he is proud to have been a part of the David Nieper Academy’s development.
Blair works across all three schools in the Trust and supports staff in a number of other schools in the local area too. “Working across the Trust has allowed me to work and support with families at a much earlier stage and to work to resolve these issues before they progress,” he says.
Our collaborative working has allowed staff who may have felt isolated as the only member of Family Support staff in their school to be part of a much wider Pastoral Support Team. We now feel as if we are one team working across three schools. On a personal note, I have been able to expand my knowledge and expertise across the 3-19 age range, an opportunity that is not often available.”
Dara is a former pupil of our predecessor school who is now working as a Sixth Form Academic Mentor at the David Nieper Academy.
“Since I left Sixth Form in 2013, the range of extracurricular activities offered at David Nieper Academy has grown and we now have fantastic pastoral, academic and careers support,” she says.
“I was very proud of my achievements at Sixth Form, which allowed me to go on to study at a Russell Group university, and it’s lovely to now be able to support our post-16 students in working towards their high aspirations.”
"David Nieper Academy is a lovely community. I have been made to feel very welcome by all staff. The pupils are loyal and enthusiastic."
Laura, Maths teacher, joined September 2022
"Everyone works very well together, it is a good team who work hard to support our children and families."
